New England Finery Magazine’s Summer 2012 issue is dedicated to the Habitat for Humanity’s Builder’s Blitz — a nationwide effort, from June 4 through June 8, to build 200 homes in 5 days, and to provide affordable housing to people in need. Two local families, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, benefited from one of the homes built, and in this issue, NE Finery shares the stories of the people behind the build — the professional builders and volunteers who have donated their time, resources and expertise to help these deserving families attain their dream of owning a home.
Inside the issue are tips from six New England design, fashion, and home organizing experts (one, of which, is me!) on how to live a stylish life for less. My design-on-a-dime tips focus on simple objects and affordable art. Check out my suggestions on the pages in the issue, here.
Thank you to Yvonne Blacker, editor and creative director of New England Finery, for the opportunity to take part in this special issue. Next year, I’d love to roll up my sleeves and hammer in a nail or help with a paint brush, and volunteer in any way, shape or form!
