2013 Color of the Year: Emerald Green

Okay, Vanessa Francis.  Annual wager won.  But Pantone, next year, please make it a little harder to guess?

Pantone’s Spring 2013 Color Report, had listed 3 hues of green:  Emerald, Grayed Jade and Tender Shoots, so it’s no surprise that a green was selected.  “Green is the most abundant hue in nature – the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “As it has throughout history, multifaceted Emerald continues to sparkle and fascinate. Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world. This powerful and universally appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors.”

My favorite room of 2011 was adorned with gorgeous green velvet drapes (interior design:  Kay Douglass).

And on Spring 2013 RTW runways, statements in Emerald were made by Vera Wang, Burberry Prorsum and Michael Kors.

  1. Yes, it wasn’t difficult to figure out and you knew it was going to be a green as well. Love the colour but don’t have any of it in my house as I am a “blue person.” But maybe I need to rethink that! Have a happy weekend Cecilia!
