#NYFW Day One Recap

It’s tough to make calls on hot trends for Fall 2013 after only Day 1 at NYFW, but let’s just say this:  Military. Check. Plaids. Check.  Color? Minimal in each line, but oxblood red is prevalent, with hints of teal and purple (Richard Chai Love).  Surprisingly, not a ton of color-of-the-year emerald green.  At least not yet.  And, peplums are hanging around another season, it seems.

The highlight for me is Marc Jacobs’s show — which has  been moved to Valentine’s Day – and after a direct Tweet from Lela Rose, I’m excited to see what she’s got up her sleeve. So far, my favorite looks didn’t come down a runway yesterday.  Shown below, from 10 Crosby Derek Lam, is a peek at a toned down line of neutrals and textures.  What caught my eye are the kick ass, knee-high, pointy python boots!
